Prairie Primitives Folk Art

Prairie Primitives Folk Art

Prairie Primitives Folk Art is a one-woman business located in Northern California. Although the business name is new, I have been creating primitive folk art for more than 20 years as "Patches & Tatters" and before that as "From the Heart."

My current focus is on primitive cloth dolls which look like they've been around since the Gold Rush! I will occasionally make a whimsical doll or two, although they are still very much on the primitive side of things.

I like to use vintage textiles in my work whenever I can; these range from old feed sacks and flannel sheets to well-loved antique quilts and woven coverlets (don't worry, I could never cut up a good quilt or coverlet!).

My work is available on my web site, and at a few shows each year. My favorite shows are the California Country Folk Art Fair, held twice a year in conjunction with the California Country Antiques Show in Los Altos, California and the Bird in Hand Folk Art & Antiques Fair held in early December, also in Los Altos.
