Buggy Days Festival
For more informationEnjoy the day or weekend in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvnia at the annual Buggy Days Festival, June 6 - 8, 2008. In historic downtown Mifflinburg surrounding the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum and the Gutelius House there will be crafts, demonstrations, antiques, food, hands-on activity stands for children, buggy rides and tours of the town on a buggy. Walk through the historic buildings of the Buggy Museum which includes the only intact 19th century carriage factory
open to the public in the United States. The complex also includes the Heiss family home, a 2 story carriage/wagon showroom and the Visitor Center, which will feature aspecial toy exhibit in May and June. The Gutelius House is one of the oldest log homes in the borough of Mifflinburg, the Susquehanna Valley Spinners and Weavers Guild will be demonstrating inside, while other crafts are demonstrated on the grounds. At the VFW Fairgrounds, west of Miflfinburg on Route 45, there will be a Civil War encampment and battles, living historians, a descendent's tent, a civilian camp, sutlers, food. On Saturday there will be a chicken barbeque, a dance, night firing, and ghost tours. There is a Victorian period Church service on Sunday morning. The festival includes "Education Day" on Friday with workshops and seminars planned; and the festival itself from 9 - 5 on Saturday, June 7 and 10:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, June 8. Admission is free, parking is free, donations to benefit the Mifflinburg Buggy Museuj are gladly accepted.
