Would love the links to websites that have to do with my passion of collecting and making country and ranch arts and crafts. Interested in attending events in the Western US to market my hand crafts and purchase others.

For every bride, the thought of receiving a gift on their wedding that is meant for keeping in the family is priceless. That’s why Brides Bowls are turning up on every couple’s gift list and are becoming one of the most trendy gifts of the time! Weddings have always given themselves to tradition, but in today’s world, a gift of timeless legend and history is becoming more cherished these days. In addition to the esteemed sentiment behind the gift, Brides Bowls also come with a big value attached that’s worth keeping! Most Brides Bowls purchased cost around $200-$500 or less, but rarities go for anywhere from $1500 to $10,000!
In the turn-of-the-century, depression glass makers sold their colored-glass bowls to Silver-plate manufacturers and they then mounted them in silver frames. Bowls were crimped or fluted, colored and hand-painted. Some of the rare ones have two bowls. The silver-plate manufacturers produced many variations of the basket included cherubs, a person or a chariot pulled by horse, as well as more generic types like flutes and columns.
The bowls, originally coined “fruit bowls or berry bowls“, got their name in the late 1800’s when they became the popular wedding gift. From there, they were handed down within the family though generations. Today brides purchase them for their bridesmaids to be carried in the wedding ceremony filled with flowers and are a lovely way to give an heirloom quality gift to each.
If your looking to see them up close and personal, you can find them at the upcoming Phoenix Antique Market held February 13-14, 2019 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds, 1826 W. McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85007. Show hours are Saturday from 9am-5pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm. Admission is FREE. Parking on the Fairgrounds is $7 per car. For more information, please call Wanda Jones at 602.717.7337 or visit our website at www.azantiqueshow.com.

I have a bust of a unmarked victorian girl reading a book. She is definately chalk. She is wearing a lace hat and lace collar. Cream in color with a brown glaze. Her left elbow is resting on top of two books and she is reading a book. Looks like she may be about 1910-1920. The number 1431 is pressed on the back of the bust on the top book that her elbow is resting on. It looks like the letter "N" is on the bottom. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I haven't had any luck in my research.

One of the biggest mistakes Meredith Publ. did was cut Country Home from their list of publications. It was my favorite. BH&G is not substitute for my 3 yr subscription to Country Home. I always looked forward to it and, thank God, saved most of my old issues!

Did they give you a particular reason for ending it? Even though my subscription had expired, I was still buying it on the newsstand at a higher price. I surely will miss it! Some of the best ideas I got for decorating, cooking, and just enjoying life at home came from the pages of Country Home for the last 25 years!
